Who will start this fall?

Brian Kelly was determined to get Walker Howard to LSU and you can’t blame him for dancing or doing whatever it took. Howard was ranked 41st overall in the 247 sports composite rankings and is someone that’s expected to play in the NFL someday.

But is he going to be ready to start in the SEC next season? That seems like a bit of a stretch. It’s not totally out of the question. Howard played early in his high school career and was productive while also taking care of the ball.

He’s athletic but not a runner like Daniels, who rushed for over 1,200 yards during his time with Arizona State. That’s an element that LSU hasn’t had for a long time. But he’s also got a really good arm and he’s experienced.

That leads me to predict that Daniels will be the starter next season as he tries to rehabilitate his NFL draft stock. Howard will likely get some playing time this season to give him a little seasoning but this will be Daniels’ show in 2022.
