Ole Miss Football: Way-too-early Projected 2022 Depth Chart
Quarterback
Starter: Jaxson Dart
Backup: Luke Altmyer
With Matt Corral looking to become one of the first quarterbacks off the board in the 2022 NFL Draft, Ole Miss has a massive hole to fill right smack dab in the middle of their offense. Luckily, right as the transfer portal kicked off, the Rebels were able to reel in the former USC Trojan, Jaxson Dart.
Dart was a five-star recruit in the transfer portal and showed flashes of true brilliance during his short run in Southern California. Finishing his freshman year with 1,353 yards, 9 touchdowns, and just 5 interceptions on 62% of his passes.
Now he enters a program that might just have enough pieces on offense to help Dart truly breakout in 2021. Including a five-star running back, a deep core of receivers, and his former USC teammate, Michael Trigg.
He’ll also have wunderkind OC, Charlie Weis Jr., and offensive guru, Lane Kiffin. So, there’s good reason to believe that Jaxson Dart will have an explosive year in 2022.
However, hot on Dart’s trail will be the former four-star recruit, and Oxford, Mississippi native, Luke Altmyer, who has tons of hype surrounding him, as well as legitimate winning experience (albeit at the high school level). So, he should serve as a more than capable backup if Dart is forced to miss any time next season.
