2022 NFL Mock draft: Projecting first-round after free agency and trades
The Giants have sort of always been known for having great pass rushers and right now, the franchise could definitely use a boost in that area. Luckily for them, this NFL mock draft has Georgia d-lineman Travon Walker falling to the G-Men. Walker’s stock is on the rise after running in the 4.5-range as a 6-foot-5, 275-pound defensive end. He dominated in the college football playoffs and along with getting a premiere offensive tackle, New York can check edge rusher off its list of needs too with this selection, which again is a solid value.
Maybe the Falcons believe that Kenny Pickett is the next Matt Ryan who was traded to the Colts Monday. That comparison has been going around. But if they didn’t draft one of the top quarterbacks a year ago, I don’t expect them to reach for one early in the 2022 NFL draft. Instead, Atlanta will try to add more weapons for whoever winds up playing quarterback, a position that could be addressed later in the draft (especially now that the Falcons have draft ammo to move around). That means Wilson is the pick. There are a bunch of wideouts that are talented, but Wilson has production and a high ceiling. Plus, along with Kyle Pitts, he can help make things easy for the long-term answer at quarterback.
