Ranking the 5 best college football states entering the 2022 season
By Austin Lloyd
5. South Carolina
If the state of South Carolina only had a little bit more to work with, it would likely be ranked higher. But alas, there isn’t much beyond the Tigers and Gamecocks. However, even those two are enough to land South Carolina somewhere on here.
Starting with Clemson, the Tigers haven’t seen a season with under 10 wins since their 2010-11 run — over a decade ago. On top of that, they are a favorite to take the ACC once again next season, which will be all the more possible considering their leading of the conference in 2022 recruiting.
As for the South Carolina Gamecocks, they are now a bowl team under still-new head coach Shane Beamer. Accomplishing such a feat in one season with a previously-lackluster SEC program is worth a hefty amount of applause.
After going down the ladder a great deal, we find the South Carolina State Bulldogs of the FCS. They’re not great, but they haven’t had a losing season since 2018, so I guess that’s something worth noting as well.
