4. Utah

A state as, well, underwhelming as Utah probably has more college football teams than it deserves, but it’s still cool to see them all playing well at the same time.

Starting with the Utah Utes, the role they play in the state being listed here today is rather self-explanatory: they’re the defending Pac-12 champs and came within a few points of taking the Rose Bowl from Ohio State.

Switching over to BYU, the Cougars had an impressive 2021 showing of their own. BYU managed to amass 10 wins last season, along with 11 the year before that. That makes them quite possibly the least-appreciated powerhouse in CFB today.

Utah’s last team at the FBS level, Utah State, saw the most wins out of all universities in the Mormon land (11). While doing so, the Aggies won the Mountain West without breaking a sweat.

The only other noteworthy accomplishment that the state’s college football has to offer is that the FCS-level Weber State Wildcats haven’t had a losing record since 2014, which is more than you can say for a lot of the bigger names out there.
