3. Michigan

If it weren’t for an apparent lack of depth, the state of Michigan would probably be ranked even higher than third. But considering who they have as is, people can only complain about so much.

To kick things off, we have the Michigan Wolverines and their in-state rival, the Michigan State Spartans. Both managed to snatch 11-plus wins last season, but the Wolverines easily made the biggest moves.

Under legendary head coach Jim Harbaugh, Michigan won the Big Ten in dominant fashion and secured its first-ever appearance in the College Football Playoff. Entering this fall with that level of strength, few will have what it takes to stop the Wolverines.

Stooping down to the Group of Five level, the state of Michigan saw an additional three bowl teams in Central Michigan, Western Michigan, and Eastern Michigan (with the first two winning the bowls that they made).
