Sometimes, no matter how hard some states try, they rarely manage to keep up with the college football scene. These five will fit that description in 2022.

Simply put, college football is one of those things that separates the men from the boys. And while there is no disrespect meant to target anyone within that statement, there are certainly a fair share of teams that will fall into the latter next season.

The following states listed are currently caving under the pressures of college football mediocrity. Multiple things could play into these collapses, including but not limited to tough competition, little luck in recruiting, and new head coaches.

But nonetheless, these states are stuck on this list until further notice. Could their performances this Fall change that? Absolutely. However, folks can only go off what they have already seen, and it hasn’t been too pretty as of late.

So without further ado, here are the five worst college football states entering the 2022 season. And please note that the states eligible for these rankings must have at least two Power Five programs each. It wouldn’t seem overly fair to slap names like Maine and Alaska on here, would it?
