A new OC

As mentioned before in this blog, the Mountaineer’s aren’t the air raid team of years past. This past year they weren’t even a good offensive team, and struggled to consistently put points on the board. This is a serious issue when playing in the point scoring monster that is the Big 12.

Enter Graham Harrell, WVU’s new offensive coordinator and quarterback’s coach. It’s likely that with Brown relieving duties Harrell will be the one calling the plays.

I think given Harrell’s resume, this move bodes well for the Mountaineers. Harrell played quarterback at Texas Tech under Mike Leach’s explosive air raid offense in the 2000’s before playing in the NFL. After his playing career Harrell was crucial to North Texas’ back-to-back seasons of having a top-25 offense. He then found success at USC in the same position.

In Harrell West Virginia football has found something special, some promise, we have an OC who has the mind and experience to reshape our offense and turn it into a high scoring unit in the Big 12 to complement a defense that has been exceptional under Brown.
