Just right: Alabama (11)

There was a strong consideration for projecting Alabama to go through another SEC football season undefeated. But the Crimson Tide weren’t able to do it last season and I don’t think they will in 2022 — the schedule is just too difficult.

The Crimson Tide has road trips to Texas, Arkansas, LSU, Tennessee, and Ole Miss. All of those teams could be ranked in the top 25 and Texas A&M also comes calling.

That’s why it’s realistic to project Alabama to lose one game in 2022. Yet, with Bryce Young and Will Anderson, plus Nick Saban, the Tide should still have a great shot of repeating as SEC champs and reaching the College Football Playoff once again.

It’s not out of the realm of possibility for Georgia and Alabama to meet in the SEC title game undefeated, it’s just really hard to see it happening.

Others that are just right: Florida (7), Ole Miss (7), LSU (7), South Carolina (6), Auburn (6), and Vanderbilt (2).

Florida and LSU will both be improved next season with new head coaches Billy Napier and Brian Kelly, yet the SEC football conference is loaded in 2022 and that will make wins hard to come by. Even South Carolina will seem like one of the better 6-6 teams in the country, but with the difficulty of the schedule, the Gamecocks will need Spencer Rattler at his best just to get there.
