Ibrahim Kante, EDGE (North Carolina State)

There is a lot of talk about how Nebraska football needs to be better at quarterback in the 2022 season, but the Huskers also need to do a better job of sacking other teams’ quarterbacks.

Nebraska had just 20 sacks last season and while Garrett Nelson looked really good on Saturday in the spring game and had five sacks a season ago, in addition to Caleb Tannor who has looked good in spurts and had two sacks a year ago too, it’s still a need.

There’s a reason why the Huskers have been making such a strong push for Mathis. But another name Nebraska should consider at edge rusher is Ibrahim Kante of North Carolina State.

Kante is a beast of a man at 6-foot-4, 263 pounds, and in four seasons with the Wolfpack, he registered 14.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks including three last season.

Kansas is the projected favorite with the lone crystal ball prediction favoring the Jayhawks. Kante could have a really strong connection with the KU staff, yet there could be time for Nebraska to get involved and with the Huskers’ clear need, it would be a great fit.
