3. This allows Nicco Marchiol to develop
It seems to be the consensus that incoming freshman quarterback Nicco Marchiol is the future of the program. That said most freshman quarterbacks come onto campus underdeveloped physically. At 216 pounds, Marchiol could stand to put on ten to 15 more pounds.
Marchiol is a four-star from Chandler, Arizona with loads of potential. Neal Brown and his offensive staff must feel that he is not quite ready to start. Daniels gives Marchiol time to learn the offense and the Mountaineers get a veteran that could help them win now.
Marchiol has tools but could use some seasoning. Daniels could step in for a year Daniels is also the only quarterback in the room with any significant experience as well. Last season’s starter, Jarrett Doege, decided to transfer after the season, leaving Garrett Greene as the most experienced quarterback on the roster.
This move gives all of their young quarterbacks time to mature, including the one they feel is the future of the program.
