Spring questions

SWAC spring football is the place where hope perpetually rings eternal for every SWAC fanbase. That being said, there are still some pretty glaring questions for the rest of the conference to address going into the fall, as spring football comes to an end.

  1. How will the new-look Alabama State Hornets look under Eddie Robinson Jr.? How will new Defensive Coordinator Antone Sewell’s influence and Championship pedigree impact the Hornets’ defensive philosophy?
  2. Will Texas Southern phenom Andrew Body continue along the same development trajectory during SWAC spring football that he showed to close out the 2021 season? Will TXSU have more skill position depth around him to enhance the overall profile of that offense?
  3. Alcorn State looks to replace QB standout Felix “Triggerman” Harper. Who will emerge from spring ball to take the reigns of the position going into the fall?
  4. Will Mississippi Valley’s late-season progression translate into true darkhorse/sleeper status come the fall?
  5. Will UAPB and Bethune Cookman take steps to become more competitive in an increasingly parity-driven league?
  6. Eric Dooley left a good situation at Prairie View A&M for a potentially great one at Southern. Will the smashmouth, run-first philosophy that put PVAMU in the top half of the SWAC West translate in Baton Rouge?
