2022 NFL Mock draft: Final first-round projection
If George Pickens hadn’t torn his ACL prior to the 2021 season, there’s a good chance he would be a top-15 pick. He averaged over 15 yards per reception for the Bulldogs and caught 14 touchdowns in his career. He also caught a 52-yarder in the national title game. KC added some speed at wide receiver in free agency but Pickens has the potential to be a No. 1.
The Bengals are fresh off a Super Bowl appearance and while there are a number of different directions they could go, Iowa’s Tyler Linderbaum probably offers the best value. He wil immediately upgrade the offensive line and can be a fixture at center throughout Joe Burrow’s tenure if Cincy is lucky enough to draft him at 31.
The Lions need to get a young quarterback in the 2022 NFL draft and Desmond Ridder feels like a great option. I could see him going in the top 20 but his mock draft only has three quarterbacks going in the first round. Ridder is one of the most pro-ready prospects in the draft. He’s also athletic and would give Detroit a mobile quarterback with a live arm. Ridder is also a winner and seems like a great fit for Dan Campbell too. He may not be a superstar but by adding more talent at the QB position, the Lions will have a better chance of being competitive long-term and even though Goff could still salvage his career, Detroit needs a viable alternative.
