2022 NFL Draft: 3 Targets for the Titans at No. 26
By Kathryn Rose
Although the Titans finished with the AFC’s best record, they met a bitter end in the playoffs. While the Titans have had sustained success, the 2022 NFL Draft is vital for them if they want to continue their form.
For a team at a crossroads like the Titans, the 2022 NFL Draft represents an opportunity to get it right. Last year’s 12-5 record doesn’t tell the full story, as they were downright ugly-looking at times.
Under head coach Mike Vrabel, the Titans have preferred to focus on team needs, rather than drafting flashy. Yet, in the modern NFL, they’ll need some way to create explosive plays. This is even more urgent with AJ Brown reportedly wanting out.
Of course, they do need a guard to replace Rodger Saffold, who departs for the Bills. The interior of the line was very soft at points last season, anyways. Even with defenses keying in on Derrick Henry, the offensive line itself was fighting to get any push.
Defensively, the Titans need to do something about their cornerback situation, as top corner Jackrabbit Jenkins was cut this offseason. Even when he was there, though, the Titans suffered from significant coverage busts that impaired the team’s game plan.
Drafting a Ryan Tannehill replacement may also be another direction to go. Tannehill is 34 years old and looked mediocre when Henry wasn’t there to mask his deficiencies.
Here are the three players the Titans should target with the 26th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
