Texas A&M Football: Top 5 prospects for 2023 NFL Draft
Jaylon Jones has been one of the better cornerbacks in the SEC over the past two seasons.
Although he’s not a household name like the countless stars on Alabama or Georgia, he’s going to work his way into a spot on an NFL roster after this season, if he decides to leave early.
The former Under Armour All-American has started 22 straight games for the Aggies since getting to campus and he’s been impressive from the get-go. I think he has the potential to be an early-round pick, but if he was drafted today, he’d probably be a 4-6 round guy.
As a freshman in 2020, he had 30 total tackles, a tackle for loss, an interception, and six pass breakups and he only got better as a sophomore. He finished with 35 tackles, a tackle for loss, two interceptions, and four pass breakups. He is starting to look like a legit lockdown cornerback for the Aggies and this could be his true breakout year.
Jones is looking like a fourth-rounder right now but there’s plenty of room to grow.
