Big Ten football is filled with huge head coaching personalities. But there are a select few who fans just love to hate more than the rest.

If you’re a fan of Big Ten football, you’ve seen your share of colorful personalities over the years in the positions of head coach.

Dating back to the days of Woody Hayes, the Big Ten has been home to some characters.

In recent years, there have been quirky guys like John L. Smith or Bo Pelini who really wore out their welcomes with their own fanbases, and others like Urban Meyer and Bret Bielema were hated by everyone else because they experienced a large amount of success.

Smith and Pelini have long since moved on while Meyer took the NFL leap after a short retirement and Bielema left for Arkansas before boomeranging back to the Big Ten with Illinois.

Fans loved to hate these guys but now that they’re gone (save Bielema with a harmless Illinois program), it’s time to label three more coaches who fans love to hate.

Heading into the 2022 season, there are three head coaches who fans love to hate and will be doing plenty of that this year.

These are my top three infamous head coaches in the Big Ten who fans love to hate.
