Can Adrian Martinez reach a bowl game?

Adrian Martinez is going to enter his fifth season as a college football starting quarterback and while he’s put up some impressive numbers and has had some great moments, he’s never been part of a winning team or even played in a bowl game.

Martinez started at Nebraska as a true freshman and was injured that season. The Huskers went 5-7 but the few games he missed caused them to miss out on the postseason. Nebraska missed by one game the next season and then declined a bowl invite after a 3-5 campaign in 2020.

The Huskers and Martinez seemed to mutually agree it was best to go their separate ways and the signal-caller seems to have found a perfect home with Kansas State.

Deuce Vaughn is one of the nation’s best running backs and that’s something Martinez never had at Nebraska — a reliable running game or much help for that matter.

Martinez can also run but he was Nebraska’s main source of rushing yards for four years. That punishment probably didn’t help him throw the football and now that he doesn’t have to do it all, it will be interesting to see if he can finally get himself to a bowl game.
