2. Bangally Kamara, LB

Bangally Kamara, like Solomon DeShields, was a reserve linebacker in 2021. After just posting 11 tackles for the season, though, Kamara took a big step up in spring practice. That step up earned him the defensive Ed Conway Award, which goes to Pitt’s most improved players in spring practice.

“Bangally came out of being just a sometimes player,” Narduzzi said, before adding that he thought that Kamara was an every-down linebacker now.

Kamara’s rise is especially needed since Pitt is having to replace three big contributors at the linebacker position. His development will be aided by playing on an experienced defense that can show him the ropes if need be.

The 6-foot-2, 220-pound hybrid player has bulked up significantly, too, adding 20 pounds since coming into the Pitt program back in 2020. He was a three-star prospect coming out of high school and was the 36th-rated outside linebacker in that 2020 class.
