1. Daniel Carter, RB

Joining Kamara as Pitt football’s most improved player to come out of this spring, Daniel Carter certainly made waves during the spring game. For a back that weighs 240 pounds, he moved like someone far lighter.

His footwork was outstanding, and he had great vision in that spring game, searching for the hole in the line and hitting it every time. During that game, he also had multiple instances where he carried defenders the whole way into the end zone.

Although he is third on the depth chart, for now, Carter may very well supplant Izzy Abanikanda as Pitt’s top back heading into the year. He matches new offensive coordinator Frank Cignetti’s bruising style of play, and his burst is great.

Asked about him, Narduzzi said that Carter was “becoming a multi-purpose back.” Narduzzi then went on to say that “he is running and blocking with authority, and has the ability to hurt an opponent in the passing game, too.”
