USC Football: 3 reasons Jordan Addison will shine with Trojans
By Dante Pryor
2. Addison gives USC a veteran offensive player
Caleb Williams was the crown jewel of Riley’s transfer portal class. Williams eventually took the starting job away from then starter Spencer Rattler, throwing for 1,912 yards and 21 touchdowns last season. There were moments of pure brilliance from Williams, and there were moments Williams looked like a freshman.
Like Caleb, Mario Williams flashed at times in limited duty, as mentioned above. Williams, a Florida native, did have 35 receptions as a freshman. Both Williams’ are talented players but still have to prove how great they can become over an entire season.
Addison gives the Trojans a veteran with over 20 games under his belt and a proven commodity. That is not to say that Caleb Williams is not a star; we just have not seen it over an entire season. On the balance, Williams is one of the most gifted quarterbacks in the college game.
Addison gives Williams a reliable target and star receiver to throw when everything else breaks down. Mario Williams can be the “volume” receiver, while Addison is the big-play receiver.
By all accounts, Addison is a worker and leader; both of those qualities will be invaluable for the Trojans next season.
