1A. 2022

Head coach: Neal Brown
Record: TBD (but probably undefeated, Big 12 champs, and national champs)

I can’t be the only one drinking the stupid juice and thinking that the 2022 Mountaineers have what it takes to win it all. I mean we’re in that part of the offseason, and many people are saying it. And by many people I mean, of course, that absolutely nobody is saying that except for me when I just typed it out not even a minute ago.

We are lucky to be in the extremely hopeful, overly excited and unapologetically optimistic stretch of the year when the whole football world is our oyster. Or as I like to call it: Dillusionville.

I don’t care if the past several years have been a complete dumpster fire and if watching WVU play has made me feel so dirty that I have to drink a fifth of vodka just to feel OK with myself so I can sleep. Don’t worry, I don’t blame WVU for my drinking problem — not entirely.

But where was I going with this?

Oh yeah, the 2022 Mountaineers making the leap and taking over college football. Our journey, and trials and tribulations are our strength. That’s what’ll feel the best when the team puts it all together this year. Almost like it was a necessary part of the journey to raise the the College Football Playoff National Championship Trophy in January. All of our pain and suffering will have paid off and we’ll be able to retire in bliss — until we get our hearts ripped out during basketball season.
