5. Maryland

The Terps had an excellent program season in 2021, winning seven of its 13 games and taking home a 54-10 win over Virginia Tech in the Pinstripe Bowl. In 2022, the Terrapins will have one of the best quarterbacks in the Big Ten under center and could make waves on a regional scale.

Maryland’s biggest downfall is not anything with their team; it’s with their division. In 2022 — as in all other years — Maryland football will have to play Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, and Penn State. From the West, Maryland will also play at Wisconsin and host Purdue — two more programs that could be a threat in the coming year.

Although Maryland will give a good fight to everyone they face, the Terps’ record may not reflect how good they really are. Nonetheless, I see Maryland making it to the post-season once again.

Record: 6-6; losses at Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue, Wisconsin, Penn State, and Ohio State
