Watch out for flips
I probably should have mentioned Texas A&M football on the previous page because few teams have suffered more than the Aggies at QB in the 2023 class.
Things started off great as Eli Holstein, a top-100 prospect who was ranked in the top 10 at the position verbally committed to Texas A&M football, giving the Aggies a top-100 QB for the second year in a row.
Yet, Alabama started showing more interest and after a few visits to Tuscaloosa, Holstein decommitted and essentially flipped to the Tide.
The Aggies then made runs at Jaden Rashada and Dante Moore but missed on both. Next up on the agenda is a flip attempt as the Aggies offered Baylor QB commit Austin Novosad.
Novosad is ranked as the No. 13 QB in the 2023 college football recruiting class and is 216th overall according to the 247 sports composite rankings. He pledged to the Bears in December, yet as the QB options have gotten thin, he’s gotten attention from major programs recently.
Ohio State offered him and hosted him for an official visit in June and following Rashada’s decision, Texas A&M football offered the Dripping Springs, Texas, QB too.
It’s going to be interesting to see if Baylor can hold his commitment. Purdue commitment Rickie Collins is another four-star to watch. He’s from Baton Rouge and now that Dante Moore seems headed to Oregon, I’d expect LSU to turn its attention to Collins.
Brock Glenn is another name to watch. Auburn received some crystal ball projections but now that Florida missed on Rashada, he seems to be the logical push for the Gators, so even though the QB carousel saw some big names get off, it’s not stopping quite yet.
