Hawaii football gets ready to begin Chang era in Honolulu

Hawaii Football Schedule and Predictions
This team is painfully average, verging on below average. A few bounces against them could see their record with near double-digit losses. However, there’s enough talent to make a run at five or six wins.
- Vanderbilt (L) – While Vanderbilt is still the bottom of the bottom of the SEC, and will be coming off of a multi-thousand-mile road trip, it won’t be enough for the Rainbow Warriors.
- Western Kentucky (L) – Western Kentucky loses a lot from last year’s team, but Hawaii has lost far more. Should be an easy Hilltopper victory.
- at Michigan (L) – Not much to say, Hawaii football is just way overmatched here.
- Duquesne (W) – An FCS team from Pittsburgh taking a long, long journey to Honolulu to get spanked.
- at New Mexico State (W) – Jerry Kill’s first year at New Mexico State is dire. They didn’t replace Doug Martin for no reason, and Hawaii now has a winning streak.
- at San Diego State (L) – There’s no question that San Diego State will totally outmatch the Warriors, and the Hawaii passing attack will struggle mightily in this game.
- Nevada (W) – Nevada’s in a similar position to Hawaii football. They’ve got a ton of talent that has gone, and not much stepping in to replace it. If the game was in Reno, it would be a Nevada win. However, in Honolulu, Hawai’i should take it.
- at Colorado State (L) – Jay Norvell took a ton of last year’s Nevada team with him, and Hawaii football should struggle.
- Wyoming (W) – Wyoming loses a few key pieces, including explosive receiver Isaiah Neyor and linebacker Chad Muma. At home, Hawai’i wins a narrow victory.
- at Fresno State (L) – Another brutal matchup for the Rainbow Warriors, and Jake Haener throws for a lot in a win.
- Utah State (L) – Utah State’s lost a ton of pieces, but the residual talent is too much for the Warriors.
- UNLV (W) – This game is a true toss-up, but Honolulu gets Hawaii the win.
- at San Jose State (L) – Former Hawaii quarterback Chevan Cordeiro faces his old team in the season finale and comes out on top.
Prediction: 6-7 (4-4 in conference play)
If Timmy Chang can hit the six-win mark, 2022 will have been a banner start for the Hawaii football program. They have a new stadium coming online in 2025 or 2026, and the future could be bright. But, this year, it’s all about establishing a solid foundation.
