5 college football teams with recruiting momentum to start July
LSU football
Speaking of Notre Dame football, the old head coach of the Irish, Brian Kelly, is starting to hit his stride on the recruiting trail for LSU and the Tigers are off to a strong start in July.
LSU football is ranked 15th overall in the team rankings for 2023 and that’s after picking up five commitments since Friday, four of them being the four-star variety.
The run started as LSU football won the commitment of top-100 EDGE Jaxon Howard, who is 96th overall and chose the Tigers over Michigan and Miami. On Monday, the Tigers added Dashawn Womack to their 2023 class and he’s ranked 106th overall and is a 6-foot-4, 255-pound defensive lineman.
Joshua Mickens is ranked 164 overall in the 2023 class and he also committed to the Tigers on July 3rd, while Darron Reed (No. 228), another four-star defensive lineman ranked in the top 247 also pledged on the 4th, giving LSU football four DL/edge rusher commitments ranked in the top 228 in a matter of days.
The class still needs a quarterback and that will be among the next focus for the Tigers, but LSU is starting to build some real momentum in the 2023 college football recruiting class.
