North Carolina

Mack Brown has done a really impressive job on the recruiting trail at North Carolina and that has continued in the 2023 class, despite a bit of a slow start.

Yet, with 14 verbal commitments (five of them coming this month) North Carolina has surged to 18th in the 2023 team rankings (via 247 sports) and the positive momentum really started to pick up Friday as the Heels landed their top two recruits so far in the 2023 class.

Jaybron Harvey (No. 188 overall) is a four-star edge rusher that committed to North Carolina last Friday and he’s the top-ranked player in the class so far and is followed by wideout Christian Hamilton who is ranked 210th overall.

Both players are from the state of North Carolina and are top-10 in-state recruits. That’s a big deal in its own right but the Tar Heels also picked up Chris Culliver who committed Sunday and he’s another four-star wide receiver from the state of North Carolina in 2023.

North Carolina also added a pair of three-star offensive linemen to their haul over the weekend but most impressive is the fact that Brown has landed three of his top four commitments for this cycle in the past week and that doesn’t include beating out Michigan for three-star pass rusher Tyler Thompson on June 29.

The Tar Heels have put together three straight top-20 college football recruiting classes and with the hot start to July, another could be on the way.
