Alabama football trending for 2nd QB

When Alabama football took the commitment of Eli Holstein, many thought it would take the Tide out of the running for Arch Manning.

Eventually, Arch chose Texas but Alabama was serious about taking two quarterbacks in the 2023 class and the Tide have now taken over as the leader in the recruitment of four-star Dylan Lonergan.

Lonergan has been a South Carolina lean for months. The 6-foot-2, 215-pounder out of Georgia, had all of his crystal ball projections pointing to the Gamecocks.

However, he took a visit to Alabama football last month, and following the commitment of Dante Reno to the Gamecocks last weekend (a four-star QB in 2024), the Tide have received three crystal ball projections for the No. 93 overall recruit in the 247 sports composite rankings, as well as the ninth-ranked QB.

After Dante Moore commits to Oregon football on Friday, Lonergan will be the highest-ranked QB not committed in 2023. At least until July 12th, when he will now be expected to commit to Alabama football.

Once that happens, there will be just one top-25 QB (in 247 composite rankings) not committed, which is Brock Glenn. So watch out for even more fireworks as flip season is upon us.
