The Volunteers had one of the most explosive offenses in college football in 2021, ranking seventh in the nation in points per game. A main reason for such an offensive explosion was players such as Hendon Hooker at quarterback, and Cedric Tillman at receiver. Both are back for the Vols and look to keep up the offensive blitzkrieg.

On defense, the unit was fine, though it did struggle against top-tier passing attacks. Making things worse is that players such as Matthew Butler at defensive tackle, Alontae Taylor at corner, and Theo Jackson at nickelback are all gone.

Alabama lights up the Vols again and lights yet another box of cigars.

Prediction: Alabama 49, Tennessee 28 (7-0, 4-0)

This may be one of Alabama’s toughest games of the year.

Of course, as with any Mike Leach team, there’s a very good passing attack leading this team. Will Rogers is one of the more underrated quarterbacks in the entire country, and there’s no doubt Mississippi State will be able to spread the ball around the yard.

Defensively, this team looks extremely solid, with most players back from last year’s team. They should be able to slow down Alabama, anyways.

Still, though, expect another Tide victory.

Prediction Alabama 28, Mississippi State 13 (8-0, 5-0)
