Hawaii-Vanderbilt will be the game of the day

Is it just me or is Week 0 of the college football season sound pretty exciting? Nebraska football-Northwestern in Dublin is going to be sweet, just because of the atmosphere and I expect a good game too (just imagine the temperature of Scott Frost’s hot seat with a loss?).

But the sneaky good game I’m really interested in watching is Vanderbilt-Hawaii — the nightcap.

Timmy Chang is the new head coach of the Rainbow Warriors after everything that went down last season and that’s brought some excitement back to the program. Hawaii wasn’t terrible last season and Washington State transfer Cammon Cooper should be solid at quarterback and you have to figure Chang is going to air it out, a lot.

You might not think an SEC team, even Vanderbilt could lose to Hawaii but the game is on the road, at a weird time for the Commodores, and they did lose to East Tennessee State (by 20) and didn’t win any games in the SEC.

But Clark Lea knows how to recruit and the talent, which is better for Vanderbilt, especially after a solid recruiting class, is going to probably win out. However, I think the Rainbow Warriors make it interesting and take it well into the fourth quarter.

Depending on the final line, I might even pick Hawaii with the spread. but we’ll get to that later.
