Possible QB flips in 2023 and 2024

Of all the college football recruiting victories so far in the month of August, the biggest might go to Baylor head coach Dave Aranda as he and the Bears fought off numerous contenders to keep the commitment of four-star QB Austin Novosad.

Ohio State was after him, but the Buckeyes took the commitment of Brock Glenn. Novosad still visited Texas A&M unofficially and the Aggies appeared to be a real threat before Novosad re-committed to Baylor football this past week in a huge win for the Bears.

Dave Aranda has this program humming and when Texas and Oklahoma leave the Big 12, Baylor football could be the class of the league.

Speaking of Texas A&M football and its pursuit of a quarterback. The 2023 class has been rough on the Aggies as Eli Holstein flipped to Alabama to join a two-QB class, while Dante Moore, Jaden Rashada, and others have turned down A&M.

However, Jimbo Fisher has set his sights on Malachi Nelson, a five-star QB commitment of USC in the 2024 class. Nelson took an unofficial visit to Texas A&M football this weekend.

USC still feels like the favorite to hold onto the commitment because of Lincoln Riley’s track record with quarterbacks. We’ll see if the Aggies strike out again but their luck hasn’t been great recently when it comes to quarterbacks.

The flip attempt from Texas A&M might not work with Nelson, but LSU seems poised to flip former Purdue commit Rickie Collins. The four-star QB from Baton Rouge ranks 173rd overall, and now has a 97-percent chance of committing to the Tigers according to On3.

That would be another big recruiting victory for Brian Kelly, who has put together a very strong summer for LSU.
