Manny Diaz’s Takeover

The biggest addtion to the Nittany Lions this offseason is that of Defensive Coordinator Manny Diaz, who takes over for Brent Pry who left for Virginia Tech. While Diaz’s tenure in Miami did not go as planned, it goes without question that he is one of the best defensive minded coaches in all of college football. And Diaz is going to have plenty of talent as his disposale in Year One.

The Nittany Lions have one of the best and more deep secondaries they have had in years. Ji’Ayir Brown, who was tied for the most interceptions in the nation last season , and Joey Porter Jr. look to provide support in both the run game and the pass game. And along the front seven, the Nittany Lions usual strong point, they welcome back both PJ Mustipher and Adisa Isaac from injuries.

In the Big Ten, it takes more than just a high flying offense to win games but also a defense that is talented in all levels of the game, and for Penn State football, they have all the coaching and players to do just that,
