The 2022 Heisman Trophy watch list is a long one but here are the top five candidates to win the award this season.

Last season’s Heisman Trophy race was intriguing and really went all the way to championship week before Bryce Young truly locked up the award.

Leading Alabama to a come-from-behind win over Auburn put him in the lead, especially as C.J. Stroud and Ohio State lost to Michigan. The win for the Crimson Tide over Georgia wrapped up the Heisman Trophy for Young in 2021, but will he repeat in 2022?

There hasn’t been a repeat Heisman Trophy winner since Archie Griffin did it for Ohio State back in 1974-1975 and it could be a Buckeye that prevents it from happening this time around.

We’ll have more on that in a minute, but we’ll start our top five with a running back.

Heisman Trophy Candidate No. 5: Bijan Robinson, RB Texas

Last season, Robinson built some momentum for a Heisman campaign but it’s hard when you play for a 5-7 team. Robinson also played in just 10 games for Texas in 2021.

However, he was still responsible for nearly 1,500 total yards and 15 touchdowns. He also accounted for over 100 total yards eight times in 10 games.

Texas is expected by many, including myself, to have a true bounce-back season in 2022 and possibly even win the Big 12. Former No. 1 overall recruit Quinn Ewers is playing QB and has weapons all around him, including Robinson.

Yet, Ewers is a first-time starter and I think the offense is going to revolve around Robinson, who could easily push for 2,000 total yards when the 2022 season is all said and done. He ran for 100 yards seven times last season so he’s going to put up huge numbers.

Numbers that could even get him to New York.
