Heisman Trophy Candidate No. 2: C.J. Stroud

Stroud is one of two finalists on this list and he’s got a great chance to get back to New York for the 2022 Heisman Trophy ceremony.

Yet, if Stroud is going to win the award instead of finishing third as he did a season ago, he’ll have to put up similar numbers to what he did last season and also find a way to win a Big Ten championship.

Michigan’s Aidan Hutchinson threw a sack party at Stroud’s expense in Ann Arbor last November and his chance at revenge in November will be huge for his Heisman campaign. One issue could be that Jaxon Smith-Njigba is going to have a huge season and nearly made this list himself.

He’s easily in the top 10 of Heisman contenders overall and so is running back TreVeyon Henderson, who was spectacular for the Buckeyes last season too.

That’s why many people feel Ohio State will be in the playoff and maybe even playing for the national title — a potentially historically good offense.
