Notre Dame football could use the money

Notre Dame doesn’t lack resources. I’m not trying to say that, however, the Big Ten and the SEC conferences are going to get game-changing TV deals and the Irish know they need to keep up.

One of the best ways to do that with their own TV deal is to come to an agreement with Michigan football to renew the rivalry on a yearly basis again.

As I said, both programs should be interested in doing this. It’s better (in terms of having a chance to win) than facing a team from the SEC, plus the fanbases love this game, even though they absolutely hate each other.

And outside of Michigan against Ohio State, there isn’t a game that a network broadcasting Big Ten games would want more than Notre Dame and Michigan.

Plus, if the game was a regular occurrence again, it wouldn’t shock me at all to see it do Michigan-Ohio State type numbers. All of which would help the Irish secure the kind of money they probably need in order to be independent and actually compete with the SEC and Big Ten.
