Week 10: Home vs. Maryland

The Maryland Terrapins are coming off of a rather mediocre 2021 season- going 7-6 overall with only three conference victories.

With Taulia Tagovailoa returning at quarterback, the offense has the potential to be potent, especially with a plethora of receiving talent. The Terps added Florida wide receiver Jacob Copeland from the transfer portal and brought back top wideout Dontay Demus.

However, Maryland had one of the Big Ten’s worst defenses last season as they allowed an average of more than 30 points per game.

With lots of question marks on this Maryland defense, I expect Braelon Allen and Chez Mellusi to run wild. There won’t be any easy victory, as none are in the Big Ten,  but I don’t see Wisconsin losing two straight at home.

Prediction: Wisconsin 31, Maryland 17 (6-3)

Week 11: Away vs. Iowa

After a 7-0 start last season, the Hawkeyes had the looks of a potential College Football Playoff contender. However, everything came crashing down after two straight blowout losses against Purdue and Wisconsin football.

According to Athlon Sports’ Steve Lassan, the Hawkeyes are tied for the most returning starters in the Big 10 with 17. They will be led by 5th-year senior quarterback Spencer Petras, who had an average season in 2021.

Defensively, the Hawkeyes will be led by linebacker Jack Campbell, who led the FBS in tackles last season.

This game should feature two of the best defensive teams in the Big Ten. It has all the makings of an old-school, low-scoring contest. While the Hawkeyes could be favored, I expect the Badgers to steal one on the road.

Prediction: Wisconsin 17, Iowa 13 (7-3)
