No 1. Miami Football has a relatively easy schedule in 2022

Miami has an opportunity to build on last year’s record of 7-5 and really, a legitimate shot at posting the team’s best record since former ‘Canes head coach Mark Richt finished the 2017 season with 10 wins.

The Hurricanes have just three 2022 opponents ranked in the Preseason AP Top 25: Texas A&M, Clemson, and Pittsburgh.

But, there is some good news with these three ranked opponents— one of them will take place at home at Hard Rock Stadium.

  • Sept. 17 – Miami at No. 6 Texas A&M
  • Nov. 19 – Miami at No. 4 Clemson
  • Nov. 26 – Miami vs No. 17 Pittsburgh

Miami will have a decent shot against Pittsburgh at home, but it’ll be the final contest of the regular season. Hopefully, the Canes will be healthy enough and withstand the rigors of this year’s conference schedule.

But, even if they drop the three games against ranked opponents, they could still finish with nine wins on the season, which would make Mario Cristobal’s first season a rousing success.

Miami football will likely be favored to win in the other nine games on the rest of the slate: Bethune-Cookman, Southern Miss, Middle Tennessee State, North Carolina, Virginia Tech, Duke, Florida State, and Georgia Tech.

A really good showing in 2022 will have a snowball effect and give this program some added momentum in recruiting and draw interest from big boosters for 2023 and beyond.
