West Virginia looks to be a program at a crossroads. Neal Brown’s squad returns only 44 percent of their production from last year’s 6-7 squad. Former WVU quarterback Jarret Doege is at Western Kentucky, but they landed JT Daniels from Georgia to be the new starter.

With Graham Harrell as their new offensive coordinator, there’s hope here. They even beat Texas 31-23 last year. But, with the game in Austin, and with a new offensive coordinator and quarterback still in their first year on the job, it’s a Texas win.

Prediction: Win (4-1, 2-0)

Oklahoma debuts Brent Venables as head coach this year. Venables is no ordinary first-year head coach, as he was one of the top defensive assistants in football for years and years.

This should work early since they’ve poached Jeff Lebby from Ole Miss, as well as quarterback Dillon Gabriel from UCF to run the offense. Lebby’s offenses are hyper-speedy terror shows of football, and Gabriel is the perfect quarterback to run it. With Venables running the defense, that unit should be improved as well.

Oklahoma gets it done.

Prediction: Loss (4-2, 2-1)
