North Carolina: Antoine Green was slated to compliment Josh Downs.

This season was supposed to be the year the North Carolina Tar Heels made a move in the ACC. Mack Brown and his staff have three consecutive top 15 classes and hoped this season would be the one where they turned a corner. Those plans took a sharp turn during summer and fall camp.

The Tar Heels had one of the widest catch disparities among receivers last season, and senior receiver Antoine Green was slated to help close that disparity. However, Green will miss up to 10 weeks with a collarbone injury. Green was second on the team in receptions (31), yards (612), and touchdowns (5).

Without Green, the Tar Heels need one of their less-experienced receivers to step up and take the pressure off of Josh Downs, especially with a new quarterback in either Drake May or Jacoby Criswell taking over for Sam Howell.

Senior running back British Brooks will miss the entire season with what is being described as a lower-body injury. Brooks’ was expected to start this fall, but his injury is not as significant as Green’s. Either redshirt junior D.J. Jones or sophomore Elijah Green will step in, and the Tar Heels won’t lose much, but they can’t sustain more injuries in their running back room.
