Nevada at New Mexico State (10 PM ET) on ESPN2

Verdict: Don’t watch it

Do not watch this contest under any circumstances. Ever.

Both of these schools are breaking in new coaches, and have been stripped down to the foundation. Nevada is 98th in ESPN’s FPI projections; New Mexico State is dead last at 131.

Vanderbilt at Hawaii (10:30 PM ET) on CBS Sports Network

Verdict: Watch it

There’s a bit of optimism surrounding the Vanderbilt football program. They’ve got almost everyone back except on the offensive line, and are a 6.5-point favorite heading into this contest.

Meanwhile, Hawaii has seen a mass exodus of players outwards, and new head coach Timmy Chang is up to his eyeballs in this rebuild. Yet, there’s potential for Hawaii to pull off the upset; they’ve got a brand new offense that loves to throw the rock around the yard.

This game has the potential to be the most fun of the weekend and is a nice way to close out the appetizer round that is Week 0’s slate.
