1. Nebraska already crushed Northwestern last year

Nebraska football only won one game against Big Ten competition last year, but good lord did they crush it. That “it” was the Northwestern Wildcats.

The stats from last year’s 56-7 Nebraska demolition are very one-sided, as one would expect. Nebraska had 657 yards of total offense, compared to just 293 for Northwestern. In rushing yards per play, Nebraska had 8.1 yards per carry, whereas Northwestern gained just 1.4 yards per rush attempt.

In short, it was every bit as brutal as the scoreboard suggests it was. That kind of gap is hard to close in just one offseason.

The oddsmakers in Las Vegas have pegged this game as better off for Northwestern this year; the Huskers are about a two-touchdown favorite this year in Ireland.
