Texas Football

Looking back at the 2021 season, there were few teams that disappointed as much as Texas football did. But things are going to be different for the Longhorns in 2022. They have to be.

Steve Sarkisian is going to be better in his second season as Texas coach. He’s won before at Washington and USC. He knows how to do it and his time at Alabama under Nick Saban was beneficial.

Coaching under great head coaches doesn’t always mean you are going to win. But in the college game, Saban assistants have found success more often than not.

Texas football is also incredibly talented. The Longhorns are ranked sixth overall in terms of the blue-chip ratio and the addition of former No. 1 QB in 2022 Quinn Ewers to the roster, as well as a number of talented players from the portal, should give Sark all he needs to win.

The Longhorns recruited really well in the 2022 class as well, which should help add some depth. Ewers was named the starting QB and while he should be a true freshman, his time spent on Ohio State’s campus last fall will be valuable.

Alabama is on the schedule, plus games against Baylor, Iowa State, and Oklahoma State won’t be easy, and Oklahoma is always a battle.

But in the Final Year of this Big 12, Texas and Oklahoma will be the cream of the crop. The Longhorns will win at least nine regular-season games (7-2 in the Big 12 at least) and advance to the Big 12 title game against the Sooners.

Projected turnaround: 5 wins to at least nine.
