13. Can anyone stop Alabama’s revenge tour?

You know that they’re mad, and they’re coming for their crown.

It was another dominant season in 2021 for the Alabama Crimson Tide. They dominate the awards podium, including Bryce Young taking home the Heisman. They overcame an early season loss at Texas A&M to get back to the SEC championship, where they smoked the previously undefeated Georgia Bulldogs 41-24 to earn the No. 1 seed in the CFP. After a convincing Cotton Bowl victory over Cincinnati, the Tide then ran into a double whammy of difficult sports tasks; repeating as champs, and beating a great team twice in a row.

After multiple injuries and the Bulldogs finally rising up to their rival, the Tide lost the national title 33-18, ending oh so close to Nick Saban’s chance at a second repeat championship. The loss stings, but it also gives the greatest coach of all time plenty of “rat poison” for his team. Saban recently signed a massive extension keeping the coach in Tuscaloosa through 2030. The Tide have massive expectations heading into this season.

Returning 13 starters this season, as well as arguably the two best players in college football in Young and Anderson, Alabama are heavy favorites this season to return to the mountaintop of college football. While the defense looks to be as good as any in the country, the offense has questions that need to be answered.

Evan Neal was one of the most dominant left tackles in college football. He’s off to the New York Giants now, and Bryce Young, with his size, will absolutely need consistent play at the left tackle position. At the running back position, out is Brian Robinson, and in is Georgia Tech transfer Jahmyr Gibbs. He’s got some big shoes to fill at RBU, but you likely won’t find another transfer as excited to switch teams as Gibbs.

The final question is this receiving group, over the past few years, we’ve seen multiple first-round talents head off to the NFL. This year’s group is talented but as inexperienced as we’ve seen on an Alabama roster in a while.

If the offensive line can avoid being a question mark, it should allow Gibbs, Young, and this young group of wideouts an expected path back to the college football playoff.
