17. Who’s on the hot seat?

Not the most fun topic to discuss, but here’s a quick rundown of the coaches that really need to turn it around now, or else they’ll be looking for jobs next season.

Scott Frost: We talked about him earlier, the prodigal son needs to not just get to a bowl game this year, there need to be some real signs of progress and maybe even a Big Ten West title.

Bryan Harsin: Harsin had Saban on the ropes. Up a touchdown with less than five minutes to go in the Iron Bowl, and Bama having to go 98 yards to tie the game. A win and Harsin likely has the faith of the fanbase. Instead, he took a heartbreaking loss, and a whole lot of concerns and question marks surround Harsin and the Auburn program.

Dino Babers: It seems like just yesterday that Babers led the Orange to a 10-win season and hopes of an ACC title. Fast forward a couple of years, and Syracuse looks lost. Babers will likely need to make a bowl game to save his job now.

Mike Norvell: When Norvell left Memphis after a Cotton Bowl appearance in 2019, the Noles fans were hoping for a return to relevance. Instead, more stagnation and a make-or-break year have arrived. In an improving ACC, the road will be tough for Norvell, but a program with as much tradition and potential as FSU will not hesitate to try again at finding the right coach if they don’t see real growth. I’m not even sure a bowl appearance will be good enough. The Seminoles will probably need eight-plus wins for Norvell to stay.

Herm Edwards: Considering everything that we have seen and heard out of Arizona State, I’m shocked he’s still there.
