24. Who can make the playoff?

Let’s be honest, this is what you are here for and want to know about. Is my team on this 100 percent correct list of teams capable of making the College Football Playoff?

To be clear, these are the teams that I believe can make the final four. This does not mean I believe that they can win the national championship, but can be a part of the dance.

Wake Forest: If Sam Hartman can get medically cleared by the Clemson game in Week 3, an undefeated Demon Deacons squad should make the playoff.

NC State: Devin Leary has the tools, and the Wolfpack have the schedule to make a run.

Michigan State: Mel Tucker’s team will surprise again this year. If they can split between Ohio State and Michigan, they just may be in a position to win the Big Ten.

Wisconsin: The Badgers play good defense and they run the ball well. If they can get any life in their passing game, then I can see them fighting for a playoff spot in November.

Miami: Maybe Cristobal catches lightning in a bottle in year one, and the Hurricanes take over an ACC that could be open for the taking.

Kentucky: I believe in Mark Stoops, and I believe in Will Levis. As good as they may be, their season will come down to their showdown against Georgia at the end of the season.

Utah: They’re very good, can they take care of business as the top dogs of the Pac-12 though?

USC: The boom or bust team of the year in my opinion. Caleb Williams is so good, he can carry the Trojans.

Baylor: I love the defending Big 12 champions’ offensive and defensive lines. If they can find solid play at the quarterback spot, they can repeat as conference champs.

Notre Dame: Such a brutal schedule, but if they have only one loss, I expect to see them in the playoff.

Michigan: An easy schedule and enough returning pieces will make their game at Ohio State basically a playoff quarterfinal matchup.

Texas A&M: I like the Aggies, but they need to win the West to make me a believer that they can do more than just make a playoff.

Oklahoma: They will surprise the country with their resilience, and push their way to a playoff spot. Gabriel, Lebby, and Venables are those dudes, and they will be right there until the end.

Clemson: My best team that I don’t believe can win the title. The defense is there, but I need to see it from the offense. It was that bad last year.
