9. Is Will Anderson the best pass rusher since…

Will Anderson can finish this season as one of the greatest college football players, let alone defensive football players, in the history of the game.

The junior outside linebacker for Alabama has one of the more impressive resumes you’ll ever see. All-SEC as a freshman, he helped the Crimson Tide to a conference championship, a Rose Bowl victory, and a national championship on a team that may be considered one of the greatest ever.

There was no sophomore slump for Anderson, as the unanimous All-American won the Bronko Nagurski Trophy as the defensive player of the year. His 17.5 sacks and his 33.5 tackles for a loss destroyed all other pass rushers. He would go on to win another SEC championship and was the MVP of the CFP semifinal at the Cotton Bowl before his Tide were defeated in the national championship game by their rival Georgia Bulldogs.

Alabama appears to be a heavy favorite to win it all this year, and he’s the biggest reason why, even more so than Bryce Young. Can Williams become the first defensive player to win the Heisman since Charles Woodson in 1997? He may need some help, but if Anderson can get to the 20-sack mark while Bama returns to the CFP, he should win the award.

Quarterbacks may be king in the NFL, but if a team has the number one overall pick, I don’t see how you pass on a guy like Anderson. He may be the most dominant edge rushing prospect to enter the draft since Lawrence Taylor. Yes, he’s that good.
