LSU Football: Game-by-game predictions for 2022
By Kathryn Rose
What more can you say about SECsaurus Rex? A lot, actually.
There is no other team in college football that boasts the collection of talent that Alabama does. Seven Bama players may hear their name called in the 2023 NFL Draft, and they have the depth for days.
It doesn’t hurt they have the two best players in college football in quarterback Bryce Young and edge rusher Will Anderson. Even the transfers they’ve brought in are big-time; Eli Ricks at corner, Jahmyr Gibbs at running back, and Jermaine Burton at wide receiver are all forceful impact players.
Hard for a coach in his first year to compete with what could be Alabama’s best-ever team.
Projection: Alabama 33, LSU 13 (6-3, 3-3)
Arkansas is another team that raided the portal to backfill missing positions. Treylon Burks was a special talent, but in comes Oklahoma transfer Jadon Haselwood to replace him. Guys like Drew Sanders and Dwight McGlothern on defense are also important gets for a team that is looking to build on the success they had last year.
Thankfully, Arkansas still retained the services of quarterback KJ Jefferson, who could also be an early-round draft selection, should things break his way.
LSU should be able to win this game though. Barry Odom’s second year as the defensive coordinator should see improvement in the pass rush, but LSU’s got more raw talent overall.
Projection: LSU 27, Arkansas 20 (7-3, 4-3)
