LSU Football: Game-by-game predictions for 2022
By Kathryn Rose
This has huge trap game potential, given how UAB has done as a program. They’ve won two conference titles since Bill Clark brought the program back up from the dead, and they have a legitimately deadly running back in DeWayne McBride.
But, Bill Clark isn’t there anymore, and interim coach Bryan Vincent will step in for 2022. The Blazers are still a possible Conference USA champion, but they just don’t have the same talent level as LSU, save for running back.
The Tigers win, but it’ll be annoying for the fans for at least a quarter or two.
Projection: LSU 30, UAB 13 (8-3, 4-3)
Texas A&M isn’t just aiming to be improved from their 8-4 mark in 2021; they’re wanting a College Football Playoff appearance.
Normally, this would be dismissed as delusions of grandeur from a fanbase that has episodes of said condition constantly. But, signs point to this A&M team is actually going to be really good. Their blue-chip ratio is at 70 percent; the level that’s considered acceptable for a national title contender is 50 percent or above.
There’s talent everywhere, except at quarterback. Max Johnson and Haynes King are in a 1A and 1B situation with regard to the starting spot. Neither moves the needle as far as national champion-winning quarterbacks, but the rest of the team should make up for it.
LSU won last year in Baton Rouge, but it will be a mighty task for them to win this year in College Station.
Projection: Texas A&M 35, LSU 27 (8-4, 4-4)
