Grayson McCall faces a tough defense right out of the gate in Army. One of the best quarterbacks in the Sun Belt will look to carve up their defense and secure a big Week 1.

Over the course of the past two seasons (22 games), McCall has tossed 53 touchdown passes and thrown just six interceptions. He takes care of the ball and gets results. He’s not only one of the best quarterbacks in the Group of Five, he’s one of the best in all of college football.

The Chants host Army at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN+.

Lots of optimism is brewing at the Air Force Academy this season for the football team. They’ve won 10 or more games just four times this century, two of which have occurred in the last three seasons.

The Falcons boast one of the most talented quarterbacks in the Mountain West in Haaziq Daniels. He gets a chance to tune up the offense against an FCS team before taking on Pac-12 rival Colorado at home in Week 2. He reportedly underwent major knee surgery in January, according to The Athletic. Will he be the same player we saw in 2021?

Air Force hosts Northern Iowa at 1 p.m. ET. It is not scheduled to be televised at this time.

SMU was under a little bit of pressure last week — the field that is — after Gerald Ford Stadium absorbed historic amounts of rainfall in a short time span. A huge bubble under the turf swelled up near the 15-yard line and the internet went wild with it.

Luckily, star quarterback Tanner Mordecai and the Mustangs are on the road in Week 1, giving the maintenance team plenty of time to get the field up to par. Up first, is a date with North Texas, which is a matchup that will soon be happening on a more frequent basis when the Mean Green join SMU in the American Athletic Conference in July.

The Mustangs will travel to North Texas to take on the Mean Green at 7:30 p.m. ET.
