North Carolina football: 3 takeaways from thrilling win over App State
By Dante Pryor
What’s next for the Tar Heels?
Head coach Mack Brown said this would be a good team; he hoped it would be sooner than later. The road for the Tar Heels does not get any easier when they travel to Atlanta to take on the Georgia State Panthers. One has to wonder why ACC teams are playing Group of Five teams on the road.
That said, the Tar Heels have to play another challenging road game against an aggressive opponent in the Panthers before they get a bye and then face Notre Dame at home.
What’s next for the Mountaineers?
If you are Shawn Clark, you can look at this game one of two ways. While it is understandable that it is disappointing that the Mountaineers lost in the manner that they did, they defeated North Carolina last season and played the ‘Heels tough when it could have lied down and rolled over.
That said, the defense has to play better. North Carolina was shorthanded and jumped out to a 21-7 lead. App State was not going to stop the Tar Heels for four quarters, but allowing 34 straight points is inexcusable. App State travels to College Station to take on the Texas A&M Aggies before opening their conference schedule against Troy.
