Michigan dominated a way overmatched Colorado State team Saturday afternoon from the Big House, winning 51-7. The Wolverines only allowed 219 yards total and completely smothered the Rams rushing attack.

Cade McNamara had an uneven performance under center, completing 50 percent of 18 passes and a touchdown. The Wolverine rushing attack controlled the clock though, racking up 234 yards, and the defense was solid.

We are not going to learn much about Michigan in non-conference play as their schedule is fairly light with no Power 5 contests. They host Hawaii next Saturday.

Ohio State surprisingly struggled for part of their top 5-matchup with Notre Dame but in the end, put the game away to beat the Irish 21-10. The Buckeyes do not look like a polished team yet but it is only Week 1 and the Irish are no slouch.

The Buckeye rushing attack finally wore down the Notre Dame defense. TreVeyon Henderson and Miyan Williams combined for 175 yards and a score. Quarterback C.J. Stroud tossed two scores and threw for 223 yards, but the performance was a little uneven. He was without star receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who left the game after a hard hit and did not play in the second half.

Overall it was a resume-building win for Ohio State. The Irish should be a solid team and a top 5 victory right now looks good. The Buckeyes should be able to work out some issues against lighter competition next week as they host Arkansas State.
